Spring Term 2019
I hope you had a lovely Christmas and New Year. This newsletter provides you with a brief overview of what your child will be doing over the next half term.
The children will be completing the following topics:
- Multiplication and Division
- Measurement and money
This half term we will be exploring poetry, fiction and non-fiction texts. We will start by looking at ‘The Diary of a Killer Cat’ by Anne Fine which will then lead into non-fiction texts and reports about animals. This will also link into our topic caring for animals in science.
We are continuing to encourage the children to read on a regular basis and would appreciate your support with this.
The topics this term are ‘Journeys’ where children will learn about the liturgical year and the various celebrations at important times in the Christian calendar, ‘Listening and Sharing’ where we will think about the importance of listening to the Word of God, and ‘Giving All’ where the children will think about all of the important events of Holy Week and Easter.
We will be studying the topic ‘Animals including humans’ with a particular focus on being health and movement. Within this we will look at food, balanced diets, animal diets, skeletons and pet investigations.
Children will be covering dance and games this half term. We still have had a lot of children not bringing full PE kit to stay in school all week so please remind them to do this each week.
The topic for this term is ‘Going for Goals!’ The children focus on setting themselves goals in learning, behaviour or sporting achievement.
Our topic this term is ‘Local knowledge’. We will be exploring the UK – naming and locating counties and cities of the UK. We will also think about geographical regions and human/physical features.
We will be looking at various artists through printing, buildings and landscapes.
I hope that you find this information useful. Should you have any questions regarding your child’s education, please do not hesitate to contact me.
